WELCOME:  You have found the web site of Midwest Transport, Inc. known to its employees and customers as MTI. The company was formed in 1980 by two individuals in Lawrence County, Illinois. Midwest Transport purchased the company’s assets in 2004.

We primarily operate as a “mail hauler” operating over the road contracts for the United States Postal Service. The company employees around 725 employees and operates slightly over 500 power units. Most units are semi tractors that operate over the road. One hundred percent of the employees are company employees and there are no owner operators! In 2009, MTI drivers drove approximately 60,000,000 miles. We operate primarily east of the Mississippi with the exception of Denver, Des Moines, St. Louis and Kansas City. In addition we have freight operations in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Greencastle, Indiana and Greenup, Illinois.

Our headquarters is in Robinson, IL with terminals/facilities in Barkeyville, PA, Buffalo, NY, Dunn NC, Tampa, FL, Memphis, TN, Stillwater, OK, and Greenup, IL.

MTI is fortunate to have a dedicated group of employees as shown evident by an 11% turnover rate of drivers in 2009!

MTI operates International tractors with Goodyear tires using Chevron oil. Our goal is to form strategic alliances with suppliers to help us with various technical issues as well as tracking issues. MTI is dependent on our suppliers to provide us with the expertise and assistance which allows us to concentrate on providing high quality service to our customers.

The industry in which we operate has been experiencing tough times in recent years. Thru cooperation with our employees and suppliers, we have (to date) weathered the storm.  In fact, we have upgraded our equipment to the best point in recent years due to attractive pricing on good used equipment.

Our goal is to grow significantly in volume and profitability thru cost cutting and selective use of our resources while providing superior service to our customers!

Nancy Croslow, Compliance Director for Midwest Transport, Inc., attended a two day seminar on Recruiting,  Retention and CSA 2010 updates in Joplin, MO.  The seminar was presented by Kelly Anderson from the Company Impact.    Some of the attendees were from the test states, which have now gone live with CSA 2010.  All companies will be on line November 1, 2010.   Midwest Transport  will need co-operation from all supervisors and drivers in order to maintain our satisfactory rating with DOT.
