We are delighted to introduce you to the Midwest Transport Terminal of Dunn, NC!  As I take you on this journey, I plan to give you an insight to the backbone of this operation, as I have many talented employees under my supervision.

The Dunn Terminal has been in operation and located in the same area for more than 20 years.  I, Stanley Howell, am the Regional Manager of this facility.  I have been with our company since October 16, 1987.  I started with the company as part time and later became a full time mail hauler.  I learned all that I could in regards to what it takes to operate an organized operation from maintaining a functional shop, to all aspects involved in the organization of mail hauling,  and the need to focus on our #1 customer – the USPS.  In 1997, I was promoted to the position of Terminal Supervisor and later promoted to Regional Manager of this territory in 2004.

Joe Freeman manages our shop and has been with our company since March 4th, 2003.   Our shop consists of three bays with five roll up doors.  I rely heavily on Joe to maintain the operation of our shop for the repairs necessary to keep our tractors on the road.   With Joe’s assistance, we also provide wrecker service to any of our fleet when needed.  Besides Joe and myself having wrecker experience, we are training Robert Eason and Mike Jackson to be able to operate our wrecker .

Our shop staff employees are Front Row Robert Eason, Joe Freeman, Mike Jackson and Willie Pompey Second Row Randy Stone, Lamont Burgess, Randy Mason and Carl Pulley  Not Pictured Don Redman

Jill Phipps is our Field Office Administrator.  Jill came to work for us June 1, 2009.  Jill has provided and continues to provide strong administrative support to my organization.   Since her employment, she has adapted and learned this business exceptionally well.   Jill is always trying to find ways to assist me in operating a top-notch efficient office.

Under my supervision, I have many drivers in which I am proud of each one.  I stress to all of the drivers that “safety comes first” and to deliver the very best service for our customer – the USPS.  At our terminal, we have a “Driver of the Year” program in which a driver is recognized for his/her dedication, an impeccable driving record, exceptional attitude, appearance and cleanliness of assigned equipment which also includes his/her own personal appearance.  I also review how well the driver represents Midwest Transport Inc.  For 2009, Ronald Jackson was awarded “Driver of the Year”.  Ronald came to work for our organization in November of 2003.

I consider our drivers the backbone of our company.  When I interview drivers, I often tell them that it takes a dedicated person to be a mail hauler.  In rain, sleet or snow… the mail has to go.  I am constantly educating our drivers on performance and understanding the needs of our customer – the USPS.  We recently had a very severe snow storm in the Washington DC area, and our team stepped up to the plate to do what it took to keep the mail running.   5074-po-close.jpg
